The aim of the Oldhill Family Gardening Group is to encourage an interest in gardening, particularly in food production with children and families at the school. To be able to get practical experience with growing your own produce and how cost effective it can be. Some events were held in the 2015/16 school year; including planting donated bulbs, creating seedlings and seed tape but this year we are planning a lot more!
Our first session in October will be to plant some everlasting spinach and beetroot; there will be food available to try using these vegetables and even recipe cards. Throughout the year we will be evolving the group, take a look below at what’s coming up:
The group is free and open to everyone but children must be accompanied by an adult. All families that take part will be able to take produce home each time we harvest so don’t miss out!
We’re looking forward to the new growing season at Oldhill and hope you will join us this Friday to celebrate Earth Day and the start of Spring with a big seed planting session.
Remember, helping in the garden will make you eligible for the produce we grow for free.
We will be running a gardening club every Friday after school from this term until the end of the year…so drop in and join us any time. Unless registered to the after school club, children must be accompanied by an adult.
We have gloves, seeds and tools – we just need you!
