Expectations for the end of Key Stage 1:
Pupils should develop fundamental movement skills, become increasingly competent and confident and access a broad range of opportunities to extend their agility, balance and coordination, individually and with others. They should be able to engage in competitive (both against self and against others) and co-operative physical activities, in a range of increasingly challenging situations.
Expectations for the end of Key Stage 2:
Pupils should continue to apply and develop a broader range of skills, learning how to use them in different ways and to link them to make actions and sequences of movement. They should enjoy communicating, collaborating and competing with each other. They should develop an understanding of how to improve in different physical activities and sports and learn how to evaluate and recognise their own success.
The PE curriculum at Oldhill
PE at Oldhill is predominantly taught by Badu a specialist sports coach. Lessons are dynamic, inclusive and engaging and fulfil all the elements of the National Curriculum. Swimming
Swimming is embedded in the curriculum for all children in year 5. Every Friday, the children attend lessons at Clissold Leisure Centre where they are taught the basic skills of swimming by experienced instructors, and most importantly, have fun. Swimming is an essential life skill and an amazing way to keep fit. We strongly encourage all children to swim as part of an active and healthy life style!

Sports Premium Funding
Through ‘Sport Premium’ the Government is providing £150 million each year to support the delivery of PE and sport in primary schools. This year Oldhill has received additional funding which is being used to improve our provision of PE throughout the school. At Oldhill Community school we are committed to ensuring our children understand the importance of being active, having a healthy lifestyle and exploring a range of sports and games activities.

Our Sports Coaches
At Oldhill we have the privilege of being taught high quality PE by BADU sports coaches!
Badu Sports are PE specialists who provide top quality Physical Education. They mentor and develop the children and young people they work with, while simultaneously extending their learning on matters both within and beyond the classroom walls. They inject themselves within PPA, CPD and teaching sessions, as well as the range of in class support services. Having Badu at Oldhill also means that teachers get practical advice and support which allows them to develop their physical education skills and knowledge. Their support in schools helps to develop physical literacy, and its impacts, in both young people and adults.
They will normally be wearing sports attire with a Badu sign on the back or front, so if you see them around school do say hello to them!
