The aim of the Daily Mile is to improve the physical, emotional and social health and wellbeing of our children – regardless of age or personal circumstances.
It is a very simple but effective concept but its impact can be transformational- improving not only the children’s fitness, but also their concentration levels, mood, behaviour and general wellbeing.
The idea is the whole thing takes a total of 15 minutes daily from leaving the classroom to arriving back to the classroom and no PE kit, set up or equipment is required. Once outside the children can walk, jog or run in a circle around the playground. The idea is to start off slow by walking and build up over a period of time to the point where everyone runs the mile.
Our aim is to have all children taking part in the Daily Mile. The initiative will be introduced slowly over the academic year.
Year 3 children will be starting the Daily Mile on Monday 3rd October 2016.
